Spring 2010
With Spring in the air, it's now time to refresh your Spring/Summer wardrobe with this seasons new trends. This season we plan to see an explosion of colours, from reds, oranges to many shades of blue.
As for styles, there will be a vast of trends this season, to suit all tastes. From military/tribal/sci-fi fashion; through to bold lacy tops, dresses and accessories; blazer jackets; hot pants (think Kylie Minogue - also notably petite and is claimed to have size 35 small feet) to the very feminine and floaty maxi dresses and 1950's/1960's retro dressing.
The maxi dress covers all and is a versatile wardrobe item. Dress it up with some sassy high heels (such as our ever so popular Laura or Victoria heels) or wear with some feminine flats such as our ever so pretty Phoebe or Xena shoes.
With the 50's-60's trend - curves are "in" - producing those ultra feminine lines. Full circle skirts nipped in at the waist complemented with this seasons snake skin or crocodile look high heels (see our Victoria or Tegan heels) or textured flats (Phoebe or Wendy) adds texture, style and a touch of glam to this look. Or perhaps try our Milly shoes (by Daisy Bay) to add a touch of class to any outfit with the up to date chic leather rose detail over the toe.
Sophisticated sandals with leather cutouts or detail (see our Rowan or Kathy slingback sandal); suede detail (Heather high heel shoe) and texture (Fiona heel or Xena flat) are also important trend this season. These are versatile shoes that make feet feel and look beautiful. As are platforms, which look sexy, give us height and most importantly - without sacrificing comfort. Both the Victoria and Kiera shoes tick all the right boxes here.
And finally, following European runway trends, we may also see during this season large bow headbands, bunny-ears (!), knee high socks and sock garters worn with heels - I'm not so sure these will really be a "trend" in NZ - but we will have to wait and see!
Jandals/slip on shoes - as worn by celebrities!
Indigo River is pleased to be stocking the world famous Birkenstock orthopedic footwear brand of small ladies shoes (in small sizes 31 to 35). These shoes are beautifully made in Germany and are available in both regular and narrow fittings. Celebrities such as Heidi Klum, Kate Moss are a big fan of these shoes, as they are crafted to keep your feet healthy, as well as being stylish and super comfortable. These shoes are perfect for weekend wear or that casual BBQ party.
Other celebrity shoe trends
The fringe look is also back! With a Bohemian style emerging over the next few months, look out for our new shaggy fringe Sophie high heel shoe in black suede, as worn by celebrity Sophie Monk! This shoe is arriving mid October. Please "Contact Us" (above) to be emailed when this shoe arrives in.

Petite clothing
I have had a few people ask me where do I source my petite clothing from. For those of you not familiar with any UK brands - both Next International and Debenhams department store now deliver to NZ. Clothing takes about a week to arrive and is very good quality. You can also predict clothing trends and purchase at the end of the European season, ready for the NZ season. Debenhams also stock some designer clothing (such as John Rocha) and I tend to buy clothing in the sales (usually January and August).

Autumn 2010
Indigo River – Gorgeous women's shoes in small sizes!
Welcome to this seasons newsletter. Autumn is here and we have some fabulous little ladies shoes, within our Autumn collection, just for you!
This seasons winter trends are more practical than previous years. From cosy coats to comfy knit cardigans teamed with asymmetrical tops or knits and skinny trousers or leggings – anything practical and comfortable goes. Following London trends, clothing and shoe colours are more subtle with blacks, near black, grey, dark browns and earthy colours such as dark green or blues, are set to be trendy this season.
Knee high boots work well with this seasons flowing fabrics and trendy knits. A good pair of knee high boots is a good investment for any woman’s shoe wardrobe. Knee high boots last for many, many seasons. Dressed up for evening wear and work, or dress them down for those long weekends with jeans, skirts or leggings. A good pair of knee high boots are so practical, and are a winter wardrobe must have! I live in mine! Check out the Mia, Virginia or Carmen knee high boots, within our small shoe range.
Embellishments on bags, clothing or shoes are another key trend this season. Try buying a gorgeous brooch and subtly use it on your favourite knit, winter dress or handbag. Embellishments such as buckles, buttons, brogue detailing and patent leather added to boots or shoes gives intrinsic detail and subtly, bring you up to date with the latest look. Check out our beautifully made Hannah ladies petite sized shoe, which encompasses the latest embellishment trends without sacrificing comfort or style. For something a little higher with stunning detailing, try Kiera a gorgeous red hot leather platform high heel with buckle detailing. Annie comes in a dark grey patterned leather, with a sensible heel height and beautiful detailing.

Welcome to your Spring edition of Indigo River news – for those of us with small feet!
Spring has definitely arrived and our delectable Spring/Summer Shoes are here! More petite shoes are arriving soon.
Although Spring is definitely on everyone’s mind, I am writing this on a plane bound for a Shoe Expo show casing next seasons Winter shoes and boots! Yes strange but true, as Spring arrives I am busy processing orders for next winter and I am always on the look out for new and interesting shoes and designers!
Indigo River Spring/Summer collection
Featuring a range of styles, colours and textures for the season! From something a little more casual to stunning formal footwear for the party season, we have something for you! There are some old favourite styles back, such as the ever so popular Rowan sandal shoe and Laura, a gorgeous cross over peep toed sling back platform shoe in black, right through to our “designer” range of stilettos. Small ladies shoes never looked so good!
Spring/Summer trends for this season

Colour – following European trends, bright colours have been making a big impact in both clothing and footwear. The brighter the better! Adding colour to your feet does wonders to your mood and brings you up to date with the latest look. Perfect for those warm spring days and hot summer nights ahead!
The killer skyscraper heel is back! Killer heels elongate legs and give an air of confidence. With the “normal” high heel being approximately 9cm – the killer high heels range from an 11cm to a shocking 18cm!

I hope you all had a lovely summer? I find it rather exciting releasing our Winter Collection, to those of us in the exclusive small footed club!
With the sudden change in weather it is time to look at our winter wardrobe! The key European trends this season are patent leather in many colours; knee high boots with buckles; Mary-Jane style shoes and the colours red & purple! Mary-Jane style shoes are fabulous shoes, as they look great dressed up or down, as do a good pair of knee high boots. Good quality boots last for years and are great in the cooler weather. We’ve tried very hard to fill all your requests for this years winter styles in sizes 2-5. From personal experience, I know how frustrating it can be finding shoes, but they are mostly in larger sizes and then having to trawl through pages of “small” ladies shoes, just to find something in my size! We have tried to make our internet shopping as easy as possible. Please tell us if not! We welcome all feedback.
We try very hard to source shoes from suppliers who only stock shoes in sizes 2-5, however this is not always possible. All our European shoes are made to order (and this can take up to six months!), therefore some sizes & styles do sell out very fast (and occasionally even before they are on our website)! We are sometimes able to get re runs of some of our non-European small women’s shoes – so please ask!

We’ve had many requests regarding gift vouchers. Yes, we do have gift vouchers! We are able to provide a credit note and enclose this on a shoe themed card for your convenience. Please email or telephone us directly, to discuss any requirements you may have.
Postage and Packaging
We are presently keeping our postage and packaging charge to $7 (or $10.50 Rural delivery). This is now per pair of shoes. Most shoes are delivered by courier and must be signed for. Unfortunately, we cannot deliver to PO Box numbers. Please contact us if you wish to purchase outside New Zealand for postage costs, before ordering.

If your shoes do not fit you or they are not quite what you expected, you may send them back unworn and we will refund you (minus p & p charges). We are also happy to swap your shoes for a different size up to two times (providing it is the same style & colour) and won’t charge you an additional p & p charge.
Don’t be too nervous about ordering online. I used to purchase the majority of my shoes online when living in the UK, and rarely returned any shoes!

FEET TREATS FOR SUMMER
Cracked heels and toenails – my feet are shameful! Yes, it is time to get those feet out again. Without resorting to purchasing extra foot care products, use what you already have!
I’ve recently discovered an Australian organic range called Simplicite (www.simplicite.co.nz), which just smell divine and are environmentally friendly too.
The Nourishing hand and Nail Crème is fabulous on feet and toenails and is especially good for cracked heels and dry toenails! The Macadamia Body Scrub is also great for exfoliating feet and legs.
CAMPBELL LIVE!
We were truly overwhelmed by the response we got after appearing on TV3’s Campbell Live. We did spend the next 4 hours frantically replying to your requests and emails and this continued throughout the weekend. It was great to get so many lovely emails and such positive comments - thanks.
It was a fun day filming (from 10am-7pm) and I was lucky enough to have a student Nanny and my family around to mind the children, as it was school holidays! I was rather nervous with the days leading up to it, but Natasha & Scott (the cameraman) were great to work with and a lot of fun! At last, we've sourced some beautiful, high quality shoes for those of us with small feet! We hope you find something you like. I'm especially excited as I can now wear a dress with some gorgeous shoes, to go to the races!
Your Indigo River Shoe Shop
Your Shoe Shop will be open on Saturday 6th December from 10.30am-3.00pm at The Chateau on the Park, 189 Deans Avenue, Riccarton, Christchurch. We will take payment by EFTPOS, Visa and Mastercard only. This will be an opportunity for you to try on as many shoes as you like (usually a rare occurance in most shoe stores!) and for you to meet the team.
We were thrilled with the turn out at our last Shoe Shop and it was great to meet such lovely people with small feet!
We are planning many more interesting & exciting events, so please keep an eye on our website or sign up to our newsletter.
